What is this?

F1 data has always been public. But reading through timing sheets, stint tables, and lap data is something only engineers do — and even they use specialized tools.

This project changes that. Type a question like "Why did Hamilton lose the 2023 Singapore GP?" or "Compare Leclerc and Norris at Monza 2024" and get back a real, data-backed answer with interactive tyre strategy timelines and lap time charts — all powered by actual FastF1 telemetry from 2018 to 2024.

No dashboards to navigate. No SQL to write. Just ask.

The core idea: don't hardcode what data to fetch. Let the LLM decide.

The MCP layer — the heart of the system

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is what separates this from a simple RAG chatbot.

Instead of the app deciding which F1 data to retrieve, the LLM is given a set of tools — list_races, get_race_results, get_driver_stints, compare_drivers, search_race_data — and autonomously decides which ones to call, in what order, and with what parameters.

Ask about strategy → it calls get_driver_stints. Ask who won → it calls get_race_results. Ask a complex multi-part question → it chains multiple tool calls before synthesizing a final answer.

This is agentic reasoning, not just retrieval.
