Overview

Background

We had a course on design research where we got an understanding of how to do primary research and gather insights to design meaningful products.

We were divided into multidisciplinary groups to work with different perspectives on the project. Our group chose to explore the intersection of food, agriculture & farming, with respect to the carbon footprint it produces and its effects.

Solution

We designed an app to build a community for farmers and consumers that encourages organic farming and buying of local produce.

Process

  1. We shortlisted topics that interested us individually and then narrowed down on a point of inquiry as a group.
  2. Following which we conducted secondary research on our point of inquiry to later base our interview upon.
  3. Made a stakeholder map to understand the impact and influence of each stakeholder.
  4. Formed a question bank to refer to for interviews.
  5. Conducted interviews with multiple people and gathered insights.
  6. Ideated on possible design interventions.
  7. Identified possible challenges we could tackle going forward with our idea.
  8. Formed our Unique Selling Point.
  9. Created a list of items we plan to provide in our service.
  10. Did system mapping to get a better understanding and used that to form questions to ask ourselves to improve the system.
  11. Built a customer journey map.
  12. Did user personas for people who would potentially use our service.
  13. Made a storyboard.
