A 2-day hands-on workshop · Paris · Sep 8–9, 2026 · (+ a conference talk Sep 11)
A practical, build-everything introduction to 3D on the web using React Three Fiber and the Poimandres (pmndrs) ecosystem. Attendees don't watch, they leave with several working things they built themselves.
Format. Two days, hands-on, laptops required. Day 1 is an introduction and guided track; Day 2 splits into choose-your-own paths run with partner instructors.
Who it's for. Up to 40 developers, intermediate to advanced — comfortable with JavaScript and Three.js, with at least passing familiarity with React. We level the room with catch-up checkpoints (anyone behind jumps to the current step instantly) and stretch goals (anyone ahead keeps going).
What they walk away with. A mental model for 3D on the web, why R3F beats hand-written three.js, fluency with the pmndrs ecosystem — and a handful of finished, runnable demos plus one larger project of their choice.
Attendees rebuild the workshop's own site on R3F v10 and WebGPU — a hero scene in the morning, then TSL shaders, compute, state, and physics in the afternoon, finishing with a polished, deployed-quality site plus every demo as a standalone piece.
Pick one and build it end-to-end (track definitions being finalized; previously four paths):
| Path | Build |
|---|---|
| Game | a small playable 3D game (physics + input + score) |
| Scroll-telling | a scroll-driven 3D narrative |
| Editor | a mini 3D scene editor (select, transform, save) |
| Car configurator | a showroom-lit, configurable 3D product |
Day ends with a cross-path show & tell.
A standalone presentation for the wider conference audience (format/length TBC), drawing on the workshop's themes and best moments.
