I know that in this life

And in this mortal

Vulnerable

Easily-distracted body

There are so many things

That compete for our attention

It’s not always easy to stay committed

When our brains are constantly being pulled

Towards the next most interesting thing

But I just want you to know…

That despite who or what may come into my life

I’ll never love them like I love you.

You are my favorite part of every day

You are my safe place to curl up

The one I can cry with

The one who will always wipe my tears

And stroke my hair
