stands : a visual manifestation of “life force/energy” or “spiritual energy”, previously known as “ripple” (hamon). it is said to be a projection of the user’s soul, as well as their innate fighting spirit and psyche (forces in an individual that influence thought, behavior and personality. cf : freud’s id - super-ego - ego ).

Control over life : Can sprout life from inanimate objects and revert them back to their original state through physical contact. GE’s creations do not strictly respond to Giorno’s will, having a conscience and will of their own. Transformation speed varies proportionately to the desired life form he creates : plants will grow almost instantly, while a little more time is required to grow animals. Some environmental conditions make it impossible for life to sprout and thus, will prevent GE from creating anything that doesn’t withstand such conditions ( ex : Ghiacchio fight : temperature dropped to -100°C ( -148°F). )
Life shot **: Can channel life energy through an already living target. If used against a person, the high influx of life in their body will cause their conscience to accelerate, faster than their body does, making their mind go berserk.
Life sensor : Can sense traces of life energy in living beings and objects. According to Giorno himself, life energy exists in “clusters”, thus making him able to sense how many of them are inhabiting a body/surface/item …
Enhanced Senescence : Can speed up an existing life form’s life through its ability, and is capable of making an organism die/wither this way.
Damage reflection : Can reflect the damage caused to one of its creations right back at the attacker, with proportional force. ( ex : Leaky Eye Luca )
“Healing” : Can infuse objects with life energy and turn these items into body parts, including organs. It has the ability to even turn a foreign object inside the body into the veins/arteries/tissue that has been severed and replenish blood. This kind of “healing” does not remove the pain at all, and is in fact rather painful for the injured person. It is also more or less slow, as the time required to shape an organ depends on its size too.
Cloning : Can inject/infuse the life cells of an organism into an inert object and clone its appearance up to the stand abilities. ( ex : Coco Jumbo ). God knows how far that goes.

requiem : an energy that dominates living souls. ( extracted from chariot requiem stats sheet ). stands may undergo a forced evolution upon being pierced with the beetle arrow (currently in Giorno’s possession). the stand user must have a will or a reason to unlock this power, possibly with a need to prove they’ve done everything in order to accomplish their goals, and thus, be “chosen” by the arrow.

Control over life : ( cf. Gold Experience.) Gold Experience Requiem retains all of Gold Experience’s base abilities, albeit enhanced to new levels as shown through the “life laser” that pierced Diavolo’s hand, destroyed a half of the Colosseum and sprout scorpions from the debris. (refer to “evolution - headcanons” for further insight). It is also stated in Purple Haze Feedback that Giorno entirely healed the entirety of Purple Haze Distortion’s destruction of Fugo’s respiratory system, up to replacing the missing teeth.
Top Speed : The ability to cover an infinite distance in a finite amount of time, or any finite distance in absolute zero time. Immeasurable Speed: The ability to move without being restricted by a linear timeline. Irrelevant Speed: The ability to operate on a scale so vast that the concept of size, distance, and speed becomes entirely meaningless. Since the speed of G.E.R is describe as “none” and its range qualified as “irrelavant” is is very likely that it has, in fact, a combination of these abilities in terms of speed. It is likely that G.E.R reaches the speed of light or goes above to break the laws of physics and operate.
Control over timespace (time and space) : ( cf. How it works below. ) G.E.R is classified as a “range irrelevant” stand, for it is said to have “timespace” abilities. in this sense, evaluating its potential becomes pointless.
Trans/multidimensional power : Trans/multidimentional power : SCR was the incomplete Requiem and already displayed feats of switching souls across dimensions, G.E.R takes that power even further, since reality bends to open the doors to separate dimensions for the “death loop”.
Guardian of Truth :
“ This is Requiem. What you’re seeing is indeed the truth. You are seeing the movements created by your abilities, but you will never arrive at the truth that’s going to happen. None who stand before me shall ever get there, regardless of their abilities. This is the power of Gold Experience Requiem. “ - G.E.R to Diavolo (anime).
Truth is the property of being in accordance with fact, reality, or actuality. In its most widely accepted form, it is defined as the correspondence of statements, beliefs, or propositions to objective reality—the state of things as they actually exist. It can also be described as a transcendent fundamental or spiritual reality.
Reality warping makes the truth of G.E.R objective (independent of human perception) and absolute. Since it can affect directly the move of fate (and in that sense, gravity, the force that pulls objects and beings together) and the end of an enemy’s destiny, it carves its desire in stone, making its (righteous) actions nothing more than tangible, inescapable reality. (More below (Truth, Good and Evil) & in the Symbolism part).

G.E.R is an automatic and sentient stand with no statistics — meaning it does not require its user’s command to act and protect them, and their potential is so great the human mind cannot fathom the truth behind it, for it is simply infinite.

G.E.R’s dominion over souls is the very core of everything surrounding its “return to zero” ability. The word “Requiem” comes from the unfinished masterpiece “Requiem in D minor”, by Wolfgang Asmodeus Mozart. As a previous example to Gold Experience’s awakening, we had Silver Chariot Requiem, whose ability was triggered after being injured by the arrow. The arrow did not “pick” SC, and thus did not merge with its body, but yet, we saw what an incomplete Requiem was already capable of : detaching itself from its user (sentient/automatic stand), souls swapping, returning stand attacks to their users, and going as far as to swap the souls of living beings across dimensions, making it, by definition, a multidimensional/transdimensional stand.
If this is the power of an incomplete work, then what does the completion looks like ? The entirerty of part 5 revolves around resolve, and how it is the only true way to take action.

Plato’s Tripartite soul and his views on leading a meaningful life (cf. Storyline) as well as the concept of “souls” in JoJo help us understand how the soul truly is the root cause of all actions ; the point of Giorno’s journey as a righteous individual was to reach the truth, something G.E.R prevents his nemesis from doing … by acting on the very nature of an action. “Return to Zero” (or RTZ) has such immense control over souls, such absolute authority over them that it returns an action to its source, the soul. If a soul commands an action, then neutralizing its willpower also cancels the very intent of acting in the first place.

Causality is a philosophical concept attributed to the branch of metaphysics. Metaphysics use scientific basics to study the structure of reality, its mechanisms, what composes the world we live in …
“Causality is an influence by which one event, process, state, or subject (i.e., a cause) contributes to the production of another event, process, state, or object (i.e., an effect) where the cause is at least partly responsible for the effect, and the effect is at least partly dependent on the cause. The cause of something may also be described as the reason behind the event or process”
Basically : nothing exists without a cause / every action has an equal and opposed reaction.
G.E.R “erases” the consequence/effect of any action, makes it go back to its original state by eliminating the very willpower of its opponent.
Example with soccer :
Player A kicks a ball, the ball rolls to the goal, and A scores.
Here the consequence/effect is scoring, and the cause/action is kicking the ball.
G.E.R will make it so that the score never happened and will :
a) Annihilate his opponent's willpower (desire) to kick the ball in the first place. b) “Erase” everything that has happened between the kick and the score (or ‘reverting time’). c) Thus making the ball go straight back at A’s feet just as if A never kicked it or had any intention of doing so.
After Newton’s works on the concept of gravity, Einstein made some major discoveries in physics with his General Theory of Relativity, which helped redefine our understanding of what it is and what it does. Before him, everyone thought time and space were different entities, but Einstein found out that they are moreso connected into a single fabric. Here are some of his discoveries :
a) Time and Space must be seen as one singular entity : spacetime, which fuses the three dimensions of space (1D, 2D, 3D) with the dimension of time, creating the four-dimensional (4D) realm. b) Time and Space are not fixed but can bend and warp. c) The speed of light is the same for everyone, no matter how fast the observer is moving (not at all - very fast). d) Spacetime curves more significantly the greater the mass in its vicinity i.e: massive objects can bend spacetime. e) Gravity influences the passage of time. Tis is also the result of this bending.
Time passes more slowly in places with strong gravity : this effect is called gravitational time dilation. Time dilation operates is dependent on the relative speed of an object and its proximity to a heavy gravitational object like a planet or a star. The faster an object travels, the more the time around that object will slow down compared to a relative observer. Why ?
A brief halt for definitions :
Relative means that a measurement or observation is not fixed, but instead depends on the frame of reference of the observer.
A frame of reference is a set of coordinates that can be used to determine positions and velocities of objects in that frame; different frames of reference move relative to one another**.**
Relative speed is the rate at which one moving object changes its position or distance relative to another.
Mass primarily refers to the amount of matter in a physical object or its resistance to being accelerated. In modern physics, it is generally defined as the strength of an object's gravitational attraction to other bodies, as measured by an observer moving along at the same speed.
Spacetime : Space and time are intertwined. If you divert (deviate) more of your movement into the "space" dimension, you must sacrifice some of your movement in the "time" dimension. If you are 100% still (stationary) in space (any place), 100% of your motion depends of the time dimension. At the moment you make a move, you take a portion of the extent of this motion away from time, so, time slows down for you relative (comparatively) to someone who remains motionless (stationary observer).
If you drive north on a flat desert at 100 km/h (62.1 mph), you’re pointing your car in that direction and thus progress 100% in the northern direction, making your speed towards east 0 km/h. However, if you turn slightly towards the east, you move towards “east-space” and occupy more space in “east” ; yet, because your speed isn’t exactly capped at 100 km/h while you do, your progress towards the north must decrease. Moving east without sacrificing some of the speed towards the north is impossible,, the faster you go, the more “space” you travel through, and the less time you travel through — here north is time and east is space. Your speed through the four dimensions is fixed at the speed of light.
The Speed of Light : The speed of light is constant (the same) for everyone, whether you stand still or move fast, making it independent, objective and absolute. To keep the speed of light the same for a stationary observer and someone moving incredibly fast, the universe literally bends time to make it slower for the moving person.
Spacetime’s curvature, and the effect of gravity : If you imagine a trampoline, and then a bowling ball placed in the center, you can see how the ball would sink down and bend the sheet right ? Now, if you roll a marble on it, it will roll or circle towards the bowling ball and the dimple it forms instead of making a straight line. Not because a magical force operates, but because of the curve in the surface.
The trampoline is space, the bowling ball is a planet, and the marble is a moon or a smaller object. The closer we are to a heavy mass (ex : moon to earth, orbit of ~27 days), the slower time goes around it. What we feel as the pull of gravity is actually objects moving along the curves, in the straightest way available to them (which is, a curved path).
Gravity, also known as gravitation or a gravitational interaction, is in the end a fundamental interaction, which may be described as the force that draws material objects (or objects with mass) towards each other based on their mass and the distance between said objects. Objects with more mass generate a stronger gravitational pull, and the pull becomes weaker as objects move farther apart.
Albert Einstein redefined gravity not just as a traditional pull, but as the curving of space and time caused by mass, similar to a heavy bowling ball resting on a trampoline.
The same principles are to be applied to G.E.R : because their power over soul is absolute and does not bend to anyone’s will but their own, because they are a hand of judgement, god-like being, a completed Requiem, they become said “heavy mass” : the entire fabric of reality itself needs to warp to their will in order for them to complete the ability’s action : reality accomodates, the laws of the universe are what makes reality “true” in the first place, and so; if need be, motion reaches the speed of light or above; leading to time flowing backwards, and space itself opens pocket dimensions that then lead to the so-called “ death loop “.
Having spacetime abilities, G.E.R for sure evolves in the 4th dimention at the very least, if not the 5th. “Reality” and “Truth” are more or less equivalent concepts ; seen as G.E.R warps reality to its command, it is normal to assume, and easier to understand as well that it wields and guards the very concept of “ Truth “.

Reality : 1 : the quality or state of being real.
Reality is the total independent nature and existence of all things, all that we know through empirical evidence (based on observation and experience), logical deduction, sensorial perception or other means. It is not imaginary, and encompasses everything that is by itself, from the cosmos and everything within to concepts and laws of the universe.
It is the sum of all that is real, including both conceptual and physical entities, the state of things as they are rather than as they are imagined to be — the fabric of existence. For example, the color red is red, whether you want it to be or not ; changing the name of the color would not change its hue, but only the way you’ve called it. The word changes in other languages too, the root may not be the same, but all describes one specific shade that observation allows us to identify as red. The observed object or fact does not depend on the mind’s appreciation of it to keep existing or to maintain its shape, composition and character.
While speaking to Diavolo upon obtaining G.E.R, Giorno talks about reality ; all that is real. But what does real mean and what is included in it ?
In Reality+: Virtual Worlds and the Problems of Philosophy, David J. Chalmers offers five criteria to define what makes something real.
We could add undeniability in it ; no experience or observation can deny the existence of something. As we can see, the criteria is far from being perfect but gives us a clearer perspective of what it means to be real and what reality encompasses.

In the Japanese dub, Giorno uses the word “ 真実 (shinjitsu) “ which can mean both “reality” and “truth”; two terms that are often conflated in our language. In the English translation of the manga, he and G.E.R use the term “reality” whereas the most spread versions use the term “truth”. We’ve quickly been over what being “real” entails, and pinpointed also that perception and perspective can be factors that keeps something from being real, true, accorded to facts. But now, we need to look closer at how these notions are described, and why it’s important to understand them to differentiate truth and reality.
Perception : 1a ; awareness through physical sensation : reaction to sensory stimulus.
Perception is the way one thinks about something or someone and the way they understand it through the use of their senses. It is a sensorial process involving reception of stimuli, the way the brain is wired to view things based on the amount and quality of the information one possesses ; their own physical experience shapes the raw data they receive.
