Fernando Castro Flórez develops a sustained philosophical reading of José Cosme’s practice through spirituality, transcendence, the sublime, absence and presence, body, trace, redemption, water, Genesis and the instability of representation. He identifies Cosme’s proposal as “arte teológico conceptual”, establishing an important critical framework for understanding the continuity between contemporary art, theology and artistic research in his work.
