It’s been almost a year since the last time I was here writing

It’s been almost a year and so much has happened

I survived storms I felt would never end

I exited moments that made me feel like I was in a small wooden boat

Being rocked by the violent waves

Of situations I couldn't control

I asked myself 18 months ago

From this very spot

If I’d get out of these waters

If I’d learn how to swim

If someone would come to my rescue

… In fact, all three occurred

God came to my rescue

But he also taught me how to swim

He led my feet towards the dry land I could see

When my eyes were barely above the water
