90016 Chronicles is an ongoing project documenting the people, places, memories, and changes that have shaped the 90016 community in West Adams, Los Angeles.
Born from my own experiences growing up in the neighborhood and later becoming an urban planner, the project explores community, neighborhood change, belonging, memory, and the everyday places and relationships that often go undocumented.
Through film, photography, storytelling, mapping, and conversations with residents, neighbors, families, and local businesses, 90016 Chronicles is an effort to document some of these stories while the neighborhood continues to change.
The project will continue to grow as more stories, memories, and reflections are documented.
The 90016 Chronicles logo was created to feel like the neighborhood itself. I wanted it to include places, signs, and everyday things that might seem ordinary to someone passing through, but can hold memories and meaning for the people who have called 90016 home.
That same idea is at the heart of 90016 Chronicles. This project has never been about trying to define the neighborhood through one place, one story, or one perspective. It is about paying attention to the people, places, memories, and everyday spaces that have shaped this community, including the things that can easily be overlooked.
As 90016 continues to change, the logo is another way of holding onto some of what makes this neighborhood familiar and reminding us that there has always been a community here.
