Aletheia is a local-first personal finance app. Your financial records are created and managed on your device. If you enable iCloud Sync, Apple CloudKit also stores and synchronizes a copy in your private iCloud database. We do not require an Aletheia account, do not operate an Aletheia server that receives your app data, and do not sell or use your data for advertising.
Aletheia stores the information you choose to enter in the app, including transactions, accounts, funds, categories, repeat events, installment events, Part-Time jobs, shift templates, work entries, notes, and app settings.
This information is financial and personal to you. It stays in Aletheia's local app container unless you enable iCloud Sync, choose to export or share it, back up your device, connect Apple Calendar, or otherwise ask an Apple system service to handle related data.
Aletheia stores a local copy of app data using Apple's on-device data storage. The app does not upload your financial records to an Aletheia-operated cloud service.
Your device settings, device backups, iOS, iCloud, Finder, or other Apple services may affect how local app data is backed up or restored. Those services are provided by Apple and are governed by Apple's privacy terms.
iCloud Sync is optional. If you enable it, Aletheia uses Apple CloudKit to synchronize accounts, transactions, funds, categories, events, Part-Time data, and app settings through the private database of the iCloud account signed in on your device.
Aletheia keeps a local copy so the app can continue working offline. Changes are synchronized by Apple's CloudKit service when connectivity and your iCloud account are available. Data in the private database belongs to your iCloud account, uses your iCloud storage, and is not placed in a public or shared Aletheia database.
Enabling or disabling iCloud Sync takes effect after you close and reopen Aletheia. Choosing "Keep Data on This Device" stops Aletheia from using the iCloud-backed store on that device, but it does not delete data already stored in iCloud. Your use of iCloud is also governed by Apple's terms and privacy policy.
Calendar access is optional. If you connect Apple Calendar, Aletheia can add, update, and remove Part-Time work shift events so your work schedule stays in sync.
Aletheia stores the calendar event identifiers needed to keep those events linked to your work entries. Calendar data remains handled by Apple Calendar and any calendar accounts you use.
When you use Aletheia actions through Apple Shortcuts or other iOS system surfaces, the app processes the information needed to complete your requested action on your device.
We do not receive that shortcut data on an Aletheia server.
If you use Export Data, Aletheia creates files that contain the financial data you selected. Exported CSV or ZIP files may be readable by anyone who has access to the files.
