We answer every message, usually within 1–2 business days. Please include your iPhone model, iOS version, and the app version (shown at the bottom of the app's Settings screen) — it helps us fix things faster.
How does identification work? Archie analyzes your photo with AI, matching what it sees against a catalog of 100 architectural styles, plus the features and architects that define them. Identification requires an internet connection.
How many free identifications do I get? Every install includes 5 free identifications — no account needed. After that, Archie Unlimited (an annual or weekly subscription, or a one-time lifetime unlock) removes the limit. Your saved Library and LifeList stay fully readable either way.
How do I manage or cancel my subscription? Subscriptions are billed and managed by Apple. Go to iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions, or use the "Manage Subscription" button in the app's Settings. Cancelling keeps premium access until the end of the current billing period.
How do I restore a purchase on a new phone? Open the app → Settings → "Restore Purchases". Make sure you're signed in to the same Apple Account you purchased with.
The camera or location permission isn't working. Open the app → Settings → Permissions → "Open iOS Settings" to review what Archie can access. Camera is needed to photograph buildings; location is optional and only adds local context to your results.
How do I delete my data? Your photos and identifications live only on your device — nothing is stored on our servers. In the app: Settings → "Delete all my data" removes every saved photo, identification, and LifeList unlock. Deleting the app does the same.
Does Archie track me or show ads? Archie shows no ads inside the app, and it never tracks you across other apps or websites — it doesn't use your device's advertising identifier at all, which is why you're never asked for tracking permission. We do advertise Archie on Instagram, and so that we can tell whether those ads work, the app reports a handful of anonymous events (that it was installed and opened, that an identification happened, that a trial or purchase started) to Meta. Nothing in those events is tied to you, your photos, or your location, and attribution runs through Apple's privacy-preserving system, which reports only in aggregate. If you'd like to send even less, iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, and → Apple Advertising, let you turn those signals down system-wide.
What are "usage analytics" in Settings? Anonymous counts of which screens and features get used, so we can see which parts of Archie are worth improving: a screen was opened, an identification finished, a style was unlocked. They contain no account (there are none), no advertising identifier, no photos, and no coordinates, and they are labelled only with a random identifier created on your device at install. The app never records your screen and doesn't capture what you tap; only those specific events are sent, to a product analytics service called PostHog, processed in the European Union. The switch at Settings → "Share usage analytics" turns this off entirely, and nothing else about the app changes. Full details are in our privacy policy under "Usage analytics."
A building was identified incorrectly. Mixed or renovated buildings can show influences from several styles — Archie names the dominant one and lists runners-up under "similar styles". If a result looks plainly wrong, email us the photo and we'll use it to improve the catalog.
