About the Work

Away! Away! is a contemporary a cappella choral work by Japanese composer Kyoichiro Mii. Setting words by Percy Bysshe Shelley, the piece explores escape from social structures, the recovery of breath and voice, and the fragile freedom found beyond the city.

The unaccompanied choir is treated as a space in which the human voice stands exposed: not merely as sound, but as prayer, question, breath, and resonance.
