What this integration does

Axle is a fleet maintenance platform. This integration lets a driver report a vehicle problem from a Google Chat space by mentioning the app — with a photo and a unit number — and turns that message into a work request in the fleet's Axle Intake queue, so a maintenance team can act on it. Nothing else is read from Chat, and the app only responds in spaces it has been explicitly added to.

Test credentials

You'll need both. Neither requires a verification code.

We use the Google Workspace email domain to link the account to the correct Axle organization, so reviewers must use the provided Google account in our Workspace rather than an account from their own internal review Workspace.

Step-by-step test

  1. Sign in to Google Chat as the Workspace test account above.
  2. Create a new chat space — any name, e.g. "Yard Test".
  3. Add the Axle app to it by typing @Axle and clicking enter.

Expected: within a few seconds the app posts a message in the space explaining that a fleet admin needs to connect it, with a pointer to Settings → Integrations in Axle. This is the intended first-run behaviour: the app never files anything until a human has told it which fleet and which yard the space belongs to.

  1. Connect the space in Axle. In a new tab, sign in to Axle with the account above, then go to Settings → Integrations → Google Chat. Your new space appears in the list of spaces waiting to be connected. Click Connect, then assign it a yard (location) from the dropdown.

Why this step exists: a Google Workspace can belong to more than one Axle organization, and Google's event doesn't say which. A person confirms the mapping rather than the app guessing, because guessing would route one company's reports to another.

  1. Back in Google Chat, post a report in the space, mentioning the app:
