✏️ BEFORE/AFTER: Unclear Scientific Sentences

🔻 Problem: Too many acronyms / unclear meaning

Before:

GR and MR were measured in the DG. No differences were found across groups. NACP was measured in the DG and SVZ. AD mice showed higher NACP than Con mice.

After (clearer, fully spelled out, logically connected):

We measured glucocorticoid (GR) and mineralocorticoid (MR) receptor expression in the dentate gyrus and found no group differences. In contrast, we observed higher levels of nicotinic acetylcholine receptor protein in both the dentate gyrus and subventricular zone of Alzheimer’s disease model mice compared with controls.

🔻 Problem: “Telling not showing” / vague claims

Before:

The proposed state-of-the-art technique is expected to advance the field significantly.

After:

The proposed single-cell projection-mapping technique will allow us to identify molecularly defined neuron subtypes and trace their long-range connections with synaptic precision—an ability that is not possible with current circuit-mapping methods.

🔻 Problem: Concepts not connected

Before:

Cocaine can increase cellular pH. Neuronal pH is decreased by morphine.

Before (shortened version):

Cocaine alters cellular pH.

After (connected + mechanistic + specific):

Demonstrating that drug-specific acid–base mechanisms may differentially influence neuronal excitability, cocaine elevates and morphine lowers intracellular pH by reducing v. enhancing proton influx.
