Getting started

How do I add a bill? Tap the + button in the top-right corner of the Bills tab. Give the bill a name, amount, due date, and choose whether it's autopay or manual pay. BillTracker will generate future instances automatically based on the recurrence you set.

What's the difference between Autopay and Manual Pay?

What are Subscriptions? Subscriptions are a separate tag you can apply to any bill. The Reports tab uses this to show your total monthly subscription spend and what that projects to over a full year — useful for seeing how much of your monthly outflow is recurring services.

Bills & recurrence

Can a bill repeat every week, every quarter, or every year? Yes. When adding or editing a bill, tap Repeat to set any interval: daily, weekly, monthly (on a specific day of the month), or yearly.

What if my bill amount changes? Edit the bill and update the default amount. Future instances will use the new amount. Past instances keep their original amounts so your history stays accurate.

How do I pause a bill without deleting it? Archive it. Tap the bill, open Edit, and toggle Archived. Archived bills stop generating new instances but keep all their history in Reports.

Reminders

How do I set up due-date reminders? Go to Settings → Default Lead Time to choose how many days before the due date you want a reminder (same day up to 30 days before). Each individual bill can override this default. Reminders only apply to manual-pay bills — autopay bills don't need them.

I'm not getting notifications. Check that BillTracker has notification permission: go to iPhone Settings → BillTracker → Notifications and make sure Allow Notifications is on.

Backup & restore

Does BillTracker sync to iCloud? No. All data is stored only on your device. There is no cloud sync.

How do I back up my data? Go to Settings → Export Full Backup (JSON). Save or share the file somewhere safe (Files app, email, AirDrop to your Mac). Do this periodically — especially before reinstalling the app or getting a new phone.

How do I restore from a backup? Go to Settings → Import Backup… and select your backup file. This replaces everything currently in the app with the backup, so make sure you're restoring the right file.
