Watching fewer YouTube videos left me with a lot of unspent time. I didn’t know what to do. So a picked up a book I bought a long time ago and reread it. It’s called the Psychology of Money by … After finishing this book, I wanted to continue reading, so I bought some new books I though would be interesting.

Below is a list of my favorite books I’ve read and my thoughts on them.

Four Thousand Weeks by Oliver Burkeman

The first book I read was Four Thousand Weeks by Oliver Burkeman. It’s about how we experience time.

After reading this book, the way I thought about the future changed. I used to focus solely on the future, what needed to be done in the future to reach the future I wanted. But the book taught me to be more present in the now instead of constantly focusing on the future.

I started to think less about how the future would unfold by making a simple system for my blog. I would create one blog post every two weeks. That’s it. As long as I do that I would reach a future I want. I also stopped looking at the statistics every 15 minutes. Instead, I now look at them every Friday afternoon.

These two simple mindset changes made me live more in the present. I feel much less pressure and anxiety about the future, and I don’t need to rethink my actions all the time.

In this book, Oliver Burkeman also talks a little bit about perfectionism. As you may know, I might me a little perfectionistic. No one has ever explained why perfectionism is pointless as well as Oliver did in this book.

Perfectionism is in your head and you imagination doesn’t stick to the limits of real life. So everything you imaging in your head will never turn out that way in real life. So why bother trying to get the thing you’re making to match the your imagination perfectly? That will never happen.

Realizing this already made it so much easier to deal with my perfectionistic traits.
