Borrowed Cognition is a major inquiry territory, not merely a book outline. It sits below the deepest structural frameworks (for example Seven Fundamentals / CRD) and above individual essays or series.

Core territory: how human thought is distributed across language, writing, tools, institutions, other people, and now AI; what changes when cognition is mediated; and where dependence, authorship, responsibility, identity, and useful friction move when thinking is shared.

A major existing expression of this territory is Essay Collections — Writing Plan, especially Collection 3: On Outsourcing Thought. Related pieces such as Authorship and The Cognitive Role of AI should be read as narrower explorations within this territory rather than competitors with it.

The current book-outline architecture is provisional. Preserve the inquiry even if the eventual form changes.
