Buttr ("Buttr," "we," "us," or "our") makes a cooking app that helps you import, generate, scale, and organize recipes. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. Questions? Email [email protected].
Information we collect
- Account info. Your email address. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive a basic identifier and (when available) your email to create and secure your account.
- Content you create. Recipes you import, paste, photograph, or generate — titles, ingredients, instructions, source links, and any photos you upload for recipe scanning — plus your meal plans ("This Week") and grocery lists. This is stored so it syncs across your devices.
- Usage & diagnostics. Basic in-app analytics (e.g., recipes imported) and counters used to apply free-tier limits. We use a randomly generated app identifier to group this activity — it is not your name.
- Personalization. Optional onboarding answers (e.g., household size, dietary preferences, measurement units) used to tailor the app.
- Subscription status. Whether you have an active "Buttr Plus" subscription. Purchases are handled by Apple; we never receive or store your payment-card details.
How we use your information
- Provide the app: store and sync your recipes, plans, and lists.
- Process recipe imports and AI features (see "Third-party services").
- Create and secure your account and send essential account emails (verification, password reset).
- Apply free-tier limits and manage subscriptions.
- Understand and improve how the app is used.
Third-party services
We use a few providers to run Buttr. They process data only to provide their service to us:
- Apple — Sign in with Apple and in-app subscription purchases.
- Google — Sign in with Google (if you choose it).
- RevenueCat — manages subscription status.
- Anthropic — processes recipe text, video captions/transcripts, and photos you submit in order to extract or generate a recipe.
