Prompts used in this video

These are the prompts Alex gave Claude Code to build the demos shown in this episode, in order. Each one builds on the previous step. Where Claude asked a follow-up question, Alex's answers are listed below that prompt.

1. Set up the monorepo

Create a minimal pnpm monorepo structure. We'll later spin up multiple Astro projects for demo purposes, each one as a package in the monorepo.

2. Markdown CMS with content collections

Create a new minimal Astro project using the latest Astro version. It should use Astro's content collections to implement a CMS with just Markdown files in the repository. Create at least two collections, so that one of them can use a reference field to reference the other. Then implement a minimal homepage that lists some items, and a minimal dynamic route that displays each item's template page.

3. Prerendered vs. SSR

Create two routes that serve the post page: one prerendered and one SSR, so we can explore how the build output differs between them.

4. Live collections with Cloudflare D1

Create a new package that reproduces the same project, but uses live collections instead of static build-time collections. The CMS data will live in a Cloudflare D1 database. Make the Astro project use the Cloudflare adapter, and create a local D1 binding. Use Drizzle to query D1 and to generate the migration files.

5. Sanity as the CMS

Create one more project that uses Sanity as the CMS source, with the same data and the same pages. Ask me if you need anything from my side; I already have a Sanity account.
