We’re in a climate emergency, and the Dandenong Ranges are particularly exposed: bushfire, storms, landslides and flooding are all real risks for Belgrave and Tecoma. Household preparedness on its own isn’t enough, and we can’t rely solely on government agencies or emergency services to keep us safe.
CRaCA (Community Resilience and Climate Adaptation) is a working group of the Belgrave Tecoma Township Group (BTTG), set up to build community resilience — the capacity of local people to anticipate, respond to and recover from difficult events by supporting each other and mobilising local knowledge and resources.
The idea for CRaCA grew out of The Adaptation Game, a workshop BTTG ran on 3 May 2026 with 30 community members. That session surfaced several areas where BTTG could focus its efforts, including solar and energy access, neighbourhood networks, emergency hub planning and disaster mitigation.
CRaCA held its first workshop on 4 June 2026, where the group confirmed its purpose, explored how it wants to work, and identified key priorities and next steps.
From one spark of thought, a network of caring grows, roots deepen and spread.
