This Privacy Policy describes how CalmSpend ("we", "us", or "our") handles your information when you use our mobile application (the "App"). We have designed CalmSpend with a privacy-first philosophy: your data belongs to you and stays on your device by default.
When you use CalmSpend, you may create spending intent records, emotional reflections, and journal entries. This includes:
Purchase intent descriptions (item title, estimated amount, currency) Spending archetype selections (e.g., boredom spending, stress relief, self-reward) Emotional mood and satisfaction scores (pre- and post-purchase) Personal reflection notes and text entries Cooling-off period preferences
All of this information is stored locally on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or have access to this data.
1.2 Automatically Collected Information
CalmSpend operates primarily offline. The App does not collect device identifiers, location data, or usage analytics by default. If you optionally enable anonymous crash reporting, only non-personal technical data (such as crash type and app version) is processed, and no personal information, spending data, or reflection content is ever included.
1.3 Purchase Information
When you purchase CalmSpend's lifetime unlock, the transaction is processed entirely by Apple's StoreKit or Google Play Billing. We receive a transaction receipt to verify your purchase and restore entitlements. We do not receive or store your payment card details, bank account information, or personal billing data.
All spending records, emotional reflections, and journal entries are used solely within the App on your device to provide its core features:
Calculating Emotional Delta (the gap between pre-purchase expectation and post-purchase satisfaction) Calculating Emotional ROI (long-term satisfaction relative to spending) Generating monthly editorial reports and spending pattern insights Managing the cooling-off vault and reflection debt system Tracking your 30-day mindful spending challenge progress 2.2 Optional AI Monthly Summary
If you explicitly enable the AI Reflection Coach (it is off by default), the App may send anonymous, aggregated statistical data to generate a non-judgmental monthly summary. This data includes only:
Total number of entries and cancelled purchases Top spending archetype categories Average emotional delta and regret levels (as numeric ranges, not individual records)
We never send your spending titles, specific amounts, reflection text, or any personally identifiable information to the AI service. If the AI service is unavailable, a local rule-based summary is generated instead.
2.3 Anonymous Analytics (Optional)
If you choose to enable anonymous analytics, we may collect aggregated, non-personal data such as:
Onboarding completion events and archetype selections (enumerated values only) Feature usage frequency (e.g., number of intents created, audits completed) Purchase events (product ID and price locale only)
We never collect or transmit spending titles, specific amounts, reflection text, mood scores tied to specific entries, or any information that could identify you personally.
