Dragons—Ryuo & Fabled

The dragons rule as the most powerful beings of this world. There are six (formerly seven) main dragon gods, classified as Ryuo (Supreme Dragon Kings), with lesser dragons that work under them. If one Ryuo dies or gets exiled, one of the lesser dragons can ascend to the position. Each Ryuo rules over a specific domain and controls the natural world at large. They are all gods of prosperity responsible for protecting the land and maintaining order. Each of the Ryuo’s domains are associated with not just a single element but also a symbol of “prosperous times.” The Ryuo are known as Supreme Dragon Kings while other dragons are labeled as Fabled Dragons or Lesser Dragons.

Dragons are not the spirits of dead souls, they are actually alive. Fabled dragons become fabled through transcending. To transcend, you must train both your body and mind to the limit and acquire “new knowledge” about the self. All Ryuo are Fabled Dragons that have transcended.

• Regular dragons have a lifespan of about 300-500 years
• Fabled dragons extend their lifespan to ~1000+ years
• Ryuo are ageless but they can still be killed

Great Gods

There are many other gods that roam this world, typically consisting of non-draconic creatures. They have less power than the Ryuo, but are nonetheless still very powerful. These gods may also have subordinates or lesser spirits. Great Gods have some dominion they rule over that are directly related to the Ryuo’s domains or branches off from it. Great Gods are spirits that have transcended to a higher plane of power. They would be relatively equivalent status to Fabled dragons with one major drawback:

Spirits

Spirits are typically beings that have been bestowed the powers of one of a great god, and thus they are bound to that god. They are the weakest in the hierarchy, though this class has the most variability in terms of power level. They could be as weak as a human or almost as strong as a great god, depending on the amount of blessings the spirit has received. If a spirit accumulates enough magic/aura, they can ascend to a Great God. A spirit can also inherit the authority of the Great God wishes or is incapacitated in some way.

Spirits are formed in one of two ways:

• They are created by a Great God
• The transformation of the soul of a dead human

If the soul was corrupted at the time of death or a formed spirit is corrupted, they will turn into a demon instead.
