The Coaching Box is the designated area where coaches are allowed to stand and coach during the game. It typically extends:

• From the endline to the 28-foot mark
• From the sideline toward the bench

The coaching box helps:

• Maintain sideline control
• Prevent coaches interfering with play

Officiating focus:

• Use communication first to prevent issues with a coach and their coaches box
  • Hey coach, could you help me out and try to stay in the box. I don’t want to run into you.
• Do not over-officiate minor violations of the coaching box
• Penalize the coaches box only when a coach’s behavior:
  • Is repeated
  • Is unsportsmanlike
