Improving Learner Engagement in Cohort-Based Learning

During cohort-based learning, learners often hesitate to ask questions, while mentors spend significant time answering similar queries repeatedly.
This project explores how a structured discussion experience can encourage peer learning, reduce repetitive mentor effort and improve overall participation.
Learning in cohorts is most effective when learners actively participate and help each other. However, many discussions become mentor-dependent because students hesitate to ask questions or repeat questions that have already been answered.
This reduces engagement, increases mentor workload, and limits collaborative learning.
How might we encourage meaningful learner participation while reducing repetitive mentor interactions in cohort discussions?
