By joining this group, you automatically agree to follow these community guidelines. Our goal is to foster connection, inclusivity, and genuine friendship in a respectful and safe environment

1. Be Kind and Respectful

Treat all members with courtesy and respect. Disagreements are fine, and everyone is allowed to have their own opinions and experiences, but repeatedly hostile or antagonistic behavior, personal attacks, or behavior that consistently disrupts the group or makes others uncomfortable is not appropriate.

Passive-aggressive comments, insults, or intentionally antagonistic behavior are not acceptable. Humor and joking are welcome.

2. Respect, Consent & Personal Boundaries

Our group is a friendship-based community, and we strive to create a space where everyone feels welcome, comfortable, and safe. That includes being mindful that people have different experiences, backgrounds, and levels of comfort when it comes to social interaction and personal safety.

We also recognize that not everyone experiences an interaction in the same way. For some people, particularly women and members of marginalized communities, being approached, followed, or physically stopped by someone can feel very different depending on the circumstances. We take those concerns seriously and want everyone to feel comfortable participating in FBB.

We all have different personalities, communication styles, and different paces when it comes to social interaction and getting to know people. Some people may be comfortable exchanging phone numbers or moving a conversation into one-on-one messaging on the platform fairly quickly, while others may prefer to take more time. Some people may enjoy talking with lots of different members at an event, while others may prefer longer conversations with one or two people.

If you're unsure, it's okay to ask. It's okay to say no, and it's okay when someone else says no. Getting to know people takes time, and there's no rush. We're all here to make connections, but we're also here to find the people whose personalities, communication styles, and pace naturally work well with our own.

The same applies to in-person interactions and physical space. If someone is wrapping up a conversation, saying goodbye, walking away, or leaving an event, let them go. Please don't block or physically stop someone from leaving, follow them when they've indicated they want to leave, or continue trying to engage them when they're clearly disengaging.

We're all learning how to navigate a shared community, and we might not always get it right the first time. That's okay. What's important is that we work together to keep the space comfortable and respectful for everyone, listen when someone communicates a boundary, and give each other room to find our own pace.

Creating a safe and inclusive community is a shared responsibility.

3. Direct Messages Between Members

FBB is a community for building friendships and connections, and members may choose to continue conversations privately. However, being a member of FBB does not automatically mean someone is open to receiving direct messages from other members.

Before starting a private conversation with another member, ask in the appropriate group chat or community space if they are open to connecting by DM. If they indicate that they would prefer to keep the conversation in the group or do not want to connect privately, please respect that. Once someone has indicated that they are open to private messaging, you can continue the conversation through DMs.

In general, keep questions and conversations in the appropriate group or community space whenever possible so that others can participate and benefit from the conversation as well.
