This is a reference guide from the Using Claude + the Swoogo MCP session. Use it to retrace the steps covered live and continue exploring on your own.

Part 1 — 101: Foundations

What is an MCP?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is a standard that lets Claude connect directly to external tools and platforms. Instead of copying and pasting data into a chat window, Claude can read from and write to your actual systems — in this case, Swoogo.

One analogy: Claude is the person, and the MCP is the phone. Without it, Claude can only work with what you hand it. With it, Claude can go look things up and take action on your behalf.

Step 1 — Connect the Swoogo MCP

  1. Open Claude at claude.ai
  2. Click your profile icon → Settings
  3. Navigate to the Connectors tab
  4. Search for Swoogo and click Connect
  5. Authenticate with your Swoogo credentials when prompted
  6. Return to a new chat — the connector is now active

If you don't see Swoogo in the connector list, confirm your Claude plan includes MCP support (Pro or Team recommended).

Step 2 — Explore the Swoogo MCP tools

Once connected, paste this prompt into Claude to see everything it can do:

I've connected the Swoogo MCP. Can you list every tool available to you through it, and give me a plain-language description of what each one does and when I'd use it?

What to look for in the response:
