About the Opportunity ♡

The Diamond Cut is looking for a Core Cut Editor to build the strong technical and storytelling foundation behind our movie and television reactions.

This is the first editing stage in TDC’s two-part post-production workflow. You will receive the raw reaction footage, movie/show source, project instructions, and established TDC production resources. Your responsibility is to turn those materials into a complete, polished Core Cut that is ready to be handed directly to the Creative Cut Editor.

The Core Cut is responsible for the parts of reaction editing that make the video actually work: synchronization, selecting the strongest reaction moments, maintaining enough movie/show context for viewers to follow the story, pacing, framing, audio and visual cleanup, and copyright-conscious editing.

This is not a rough assembly or unfinished skeleton draft. The project you hand off should already function as a strong reaction video on its own before the Creative Cut Editor adds the final personality-driven layer of memes, editor notes, effects, creative inserts, intros/outros, and other enhancements.

Because another editor will continue directly from your work, organization and handoff quality are extremely important. Your project files, timeline, media, and assets must remain organized and transferable so the next editor can open the project and immediately continue production without rebuilding your work.

You are also responsible for completing a quality-control and copyright review of your Core Cut before handoff. The goal is for the Creative Cut Editor to spend their time enhancing the reaction, not correcting preventable foundational problems.

The Diamond Cut is looking for someone with strong storytelling instincts, attention to detail, technical editing ability, and the judgment to understand what viewers need to see from the movie and what they need to see from MyKayla.

If you enjoy movie and television reactions, understand pacing and audience retention, can recognize the strongest moments in raw footage, and know how to build a clean, copyright-conscious edit that another editor can confidently continue from, this may be a great fit.

The Core Editing Standard ♡

The Core Cut is where the storytelling, pacing, structure, and technical foundation of the reaction are built. Your job is to take the raw reaction footage and movie/show source and create an edit that viewers can follow, enjoy, and stay engaged with before any additional creative finishing is added. A strong Core Cut should feel clean, intentional, and complete. The editor should understand how to balance:

Reaction Selection

You are expected to actually review the reaction footage and identify the moments that matter. That may include:
