Overview

WhisperDocs is a Next.js 16 application with a clear separation between the browser experience, the application server, managed persistence/storage, and the external voice platform.

Component responsibilities

Browser / client

• Next.js App Router pages and client components
• Upload form state
• Client-side PDF parsing via pdfjs-dist
• PDF text extraction and cover/thumbnail preparation
• Vapi Web SDK voice session
• Live transcript and voice UI

Next.js server

• Server Actions for PDF/session operations
• API routes such as /api/upload, /api/blob, /api/vapi/tool, and orphan cleanup
• Authorization checks
• MongoDB persistence
• Blob operations
