*This page will cover not only as many spell and staff setups for Asuka as I can find, but other info about Asuka that is designed to help people improve on the character. The purpose of this is not for you to attempt to go for these constantly in matches, but to have a backlog in your memory so you know what setups are available to you through the progression of a match.
<><><><><>*
I am going into this list with the hopeful prediction that you are familiar with how Asuka works and the surface-level functions of his staffs and spells. Anything more in-depth will be explained with the setups as they come.
Due to FD negating tc3 rod pull/push, setups that are nullified by this will have ☣️ next to it, and setups that need self-made changes or reactions to FD will be marked with ❗ **
Test
Asuka’s offense becomes horrifying with an added layer, :image_2026-05-17_174657160:. Low pass allows for truly horrifying offensive sequences, as your opponent now has to respect an 18f overhead that you can full combo from.
Your offense should start with using j.d to enforce powerful reaction checks on your opponent. j.d is “reactable” as it is 18f, but this is the same as Anji’s “Rin” for reference. You should be structuring your offense around j.d being your main way to open up opponents without much risk.
There are ways to go into j.d while avoiding risk, and I will explain them now.
>>>>>
c.S > j.d is 6p’able but will frametrap 5p.
:image_2026-05-17_172404122:[Mana regen]> j.d is gapless, and going into delay j.d for another gapless mix will frametrap 5p/6p attempts. You can not combo after j.d with this button.
:image_2026-05-17_172418644: is unique as it has two branching options, tap dust and j.d. Both of these can be done instantly after casting the spell with no cancel, giving it powerful mental stack and giving a combo after. It is gapless. You can not combo after j.d with this button.

Mental Stack*
There are other things to add to increase the mental stack and make it near impossible for your opponent to correctly block your offense consistently. (Add notes about mental stack here)
Meter Usage
When Asuka reaches an out-of-mana state in his pressure, he will need ways to stall or cover for himself so he can keep his turn and continue to open his opponent up. This is where the meter you built in advantage state comes into play. The most common meter spend among Asuka players is tap dust rc. While this is a very strong reaction check, it will leave you struggling if you are fighting an opponent with strong reactions. This is where you can make use of tk-brc.
tk-brc is a technique used by many characters for strong fuzzy mixups on offense, and Asuka has great uses for it too. While it can be done in advantage state with spells, its real value is during burnout to stall for mana.
