I finished Ted Lasso again today. Third time. Still cried at the same scenes. Ted is an awesome character and you love him - ofcourse, everybody does. But the one character that resonates stronger is Jamie Tartt. From an absolute asshole who gave 0 fucks, he becomes such a brilliant team player by the end.

Jamie fucked up a lot initially. Mocking teammates, bullying Nate, living inside a superiority complex. Star players get away with it longer than they should. The talent buys them that time. But those same things caught up with him — a downfall, and then a second chance that nobody wanted to give him. In these times you require a Ted to forgive and see the bigger person you can be. But irrespective the strength and maturity with which Jamie handles the situation and grows further is such a beautiful thing to watch.

But why? why does it move me so much? Let me try to answer that honestly.

  1. It shows how people can change It shows how everyone has their reasons to be shitty, but not an excuse to continue being so. It shows how everyone is a work in prog-mess and how making the best from the chances if and when we get is the way. My current life-phase requires me to know this well - for myself and people I love :)

In words of our beloved AFC Richmond Coach,

> *”I hope either all of us, or none of us are judged by the actions in our weakest moments; but rather by the strength we show when and if we are ever given a second chance”*

  1. It shows the power of a well coordinated team This is really about Ted’s overall strategy. ”Jamie, if you find somehow how to connect the ‘me’ into ‘we’ sky is the limit for you” You might have the most talented people in the world, or even you might be - but that only gets you a little ahead. Well, you might even succeed at few things. But what truly is game changing is you coordinate well with your mates. A well coordinated team will crush a just a talented team anyday. I knew it when I left my job few months back, I’ve tried practicing it but have not been able to get it quite right man. Jaime realises this well in his game against Richmond in S01, he makes that extra pass Ted had been asking him to do since ages - which helps Man City to win. And ultimately steer Richmond to almost winning the entire thing in S03.
