• The ball becomes dead or remains dead when:
  • An official blows the whistle.
  • A free throw is attempted that will not remain in play.
  • A successful field goal or free throw occurs (until player possession out-of-bounds).
  • Time expires at the end of a period.
• During a dead ball, no player control or violations can occur.
