⟡ Steam Page has been Uploaded!!

Hello again!! If you’re reading this, that means I’ve finally taken the plunge, uploaded my steam page and announced my game! AHHHHHH!!! So scary! So exciting!

I have genuinely put blood, sweat and tears into this game (okay, no blood, but I did consider smashing my laptop a few dozen times) and it’s been very rewarding to make. The other people out there making Nancy Drew style games have helped me SO much, seriously shout out to all of them. I’m so excited for people to get deep into this game, I’ve tried to flesh everything out and add in elements that I loved from ND games.

As far as development progress, don’t get too excited… I hope to always be transparent with everyone, as this is a learning curve for me and I want people to be met with reasonable expectations. The demo is technically finished and I’m currently playtesting it, and then revising it accordingly… A lot of other stuff about the game is technically done (story, 3D environments, characters, UI, etc), but that doesn’t mean I’m anywhere close to done- I’m working on this game in a linear fashion (there are 5 chapters, including a prologue and an epilogue), and I’m still programming and commissioning voice actors for chapter 1 (the demo will be the entire prologue). That means the bulk of what I’m doing now is programming puzzles, implementing dialogue, animating characters etc…

On top of that, a lot of what I’ve been doing for the last 9 months has been trial and error, fixing old mistakes I’ve made and starting from scratch… I’ve literally started a new Unity build atleast like 8 times. The most recent one was two months ago. With that being said, it feels promising that I have the knowledge needed to move forward, and it doesn’t take as long as I expected. Finally, my ducks are looking like they’re all in a row :)

⟡ Early Info/Screenshots

Here’s some more screenshots & info!

Screenshot1.jpg

→ Map of Briarwood College (This one’s hanging in the dorm lobby- another will be accessible when you fast travel!)

Screenshot2.jpg

→ Updated version of Marcus (if you wanna see what he used to look like, go back to the last dev log- this is a big improvement!)

MainCapsule.jpg

→ Capsule art for the steam page!

I’ve already changed a few things even in the screenshots shared here, so just know nothing will remain as it is!

⟡ Nancy Drew Revival Project

It will still be a little bit (My focus is 100% on game development) but I hope to post a video of me “speed building” the first playable scene in my game! This will likely come out after the demo is released! I also hope to write some articles on how these games are made!! Stay tuned!!

Thanks so much guys for taking an interest in this project, I will be away for the next month on vaycay with little-to-no game development going on then, and then I’ll be back in October with a demo (I PROMISE!!) Thanks everyone :)
