The ball is at a player’s disposal when it is:

• Handed to a thrower-in or free-throw shooter.
• Caught after being bounced to the thrower-in or shooter.
• Placed on the floor at a designated spot.
• Available after a made basket when the official begins the throw-in count.

Disposal of the ball starts timing counts (5 seconds, 10 seconds, etc.).
