Your journal stays on your phone. Dumdum is a private, offline-first mood diary. Your entries, journals, photos, and voice notes live only on your device — nothing is uploaded to Dumdum's servers, because there are no Dumdum servers.
Everything you create in Dumdum — mood check-ins, journal entries, feelings, tags, photos, voice notes, and optional location — is stored locally on your device. Dumdum does not transmit this content to us or any third party.
If you grant access, Dumdum reads sleep, steps and, workouts from Apple Health to offer context on your Today screen and to power smart reminders. When you log a mood, Dumdum can also write a State of Mind sample back to Health so your entries stay in sync. Health data is processed on-device; it is never sent off your phone by Dumdum.
If you enable Face ID, Touch ID, or a passcode, authentication happens through iOS. Dumdum never sees your biometric data. Your passcode is stored in the iOS Keychain as a salted hash — we cannot recover it for you.
When you attach a location to a journal entry, Dumdum first uses Apple's on-device search and geocoding. If that fails, we fall back to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service to translate the name you typed into coordinates. Only the text you searched for is sent — nothing else, and only when you use this feature.
Dumdum can export your journal as a .dumdum zip file so you can save it to iCloud Drive, Files, or anywhere you choose. You control where it goes. Dumdum does not upload backups automatically to any cloud service on your behalf.
Dumdum has no analytics SDKs, no advertising identifiers, no crash-reporting services, and no tracking of any kind. We don't know when you open the app, what you write, or how you use it.
Daily reminders, evening journal nudges, streak reminders, and smart reminders are scheduled locally on your device through iOS. Dumdum does not run a push server.
The rating prompt is provided by Apple's SKStoreReviewController. Dumdum cannot see whether you rated the app or what you said.
