Hello everyone, welcome back to the podcast, how is everyone doing? I'm recording on a Wednesday of week four, which I'm slowly feeling like I'm getting into week five blues, even though it's not technically week five yet. Maybe week four blues?
If you don't know, week five blues is a term used in Augsburg that describes the feeling of out of the place and in a slump at the middle of the term, because we have a term with eight weeks, so we're kind of getting into the midpoint of it. I don't know if it's because I was out of Oxford for quite a few days last week, that destroyed or like disrupted my rhythm of studying.
I was out for Manchester last week for two days to watch a football match and see my friend in Manchester. My team is Man City. It's quite rough times to be a Man City fan nowadays because of all the off pitch events going on.
Honestly, I don't know what's going to happen and I don't want to think about it. I haven't watched a single match in Etihad Stadium yet, so I thought I need to take advantage of the fact that I'm still in the country and I have a friend from Manchester and I could just stay in her place. So yeah, that's what I did.
Manchester City has back-to-back games against Brighton and I watched the first one which is the Carabao Cup one. It was a 2-2 draw at regular times and we watched the penalties. It was so, so terrifying but it's so exciting.
I'm glad that we ended up winning and they did the penalties in our side because we were sitting at the short side so we could have a really good view. Oh my god, about that match, I have too much that I want to say but I know that this podcast is not a football podcast. Anyways, I'm glad that we somehow managed to win.
Very nice experience to watch a game in Etihad Stadium and also it was really cheap. If you're under 18, you could watch the match with only £1 and the student ticket price is supposed to be £10 but I didn't know that the discount existed so I just got the 18-21 ticket which is £15. It's still quite decent I would say, quite cheap.
I'm glad that so far all the matches that I've been to, my team won. I've watched three matches live while I'm in the UK and somehow all of them, the team that I supported, won. So I'm happy because if I ended up watching the second game of the back-to-back games against Brighton, Man City would have lost the game.
Anyways, I was also out to see my friends in London last weekend because it was Halloween. Honestly, I didn't do anything. I didn't dress up, I didn't drink massively.
It's more just an excuse to meet up with my friends. We ended up playing some card games and board games for a while and I managed to see one of my other friends that I haven't seen in a while in London. She's now working and she's just basically complaining how much she hated work.
Anyways, we're finally getting into the gist of this episode. I want to talk about my winter obsessions currently. You know that clock has changed in the UK and it's getting cold.
It's getting really like wintery. However, this year I feel a bit different. I think I hated wintertime so much in the previous years.
I just don't understand why the darkness comes so early at the day and you know it's just cold and dark and depressing. But this year I felt a bit different. Maybe it's because I have like all my obsessions with me so I feel more like accompanied and grounded in this winter.
I always tried to lean into like the cosiness of winter but I never really like felt so deep down in my heart. But this year I really feel like you know worse comes to worse. I can just come home.
I can make myself a hot chocolate at home. I could try to watch some tv, read some books and really enjoy the quietness and alone time. So this is what I've been trying to get out of this autumn slash winter currently and my very first obsession is actually I already mentioned it.
It's hot chocolate. As a massive massive coffee person I never thought that I'd say this. I like hot chocolate a lot but I never think that I liked it this much to the fact that I can drink it every day if you let me.
I think it's because that I always tend to get iced latte and as the temperature falls it's more appropriate to get hot drinks isn't it and I'm not a big fan of like hot latte. So hot chocolate becomes my number one choice. I know that a hot chocolate would never fail me, would never disappoint me and I can just have a happy time drinking it no matter what.
As I'm currently singing in Exeter College which is a college located at the centre of town. Um actually right next to the college is like this really famous hot chocolate place called Canoops. I think it's like a UK chain.
Basically they like specialise in making chocolate. They have all the percentage of um the chocolates that you can choose from. From like white to milk to dark to like extra dark.
I always tend to get like the milky ones. Um anyways it's so so so good. I am a massive fan and yeah it's just making me so happy.
