In October–November 2025, the Consciousness Residency at Edge City Patagonia operated as a month-long, village-scale experiment in human consciousness. Rather than isolating interventions in labs, research, facilitation, and measurement were embedded directly into daily life across an entire community- spanning sound, somatics, psychedelics, philosophy, and emerging consciousness technologies in a high-trust, nature-immersed environment.
Most consciousness research occurs in constrained settings with short sessions, limited context, and sparse sampling. Edge Patagonia enabled a different approach: participants lived alongside experiments over multiple weeks, with repeated practices and continuous measurement- using wearables, HRV, EEG, and qualitative reflection-to capture lived states rather than isolated snapshots.
The result was one of the most attended residencies at Edge City Patagonia, sustaining high engagement across four full weeks while producing concrete research artifacts and a durable post-residency community. This demonstrated that immersive, village-scale experimentation is a viable and generative model for consciousness research- bridging rigorous measurement with lived human experience and supporting longer-term inquiry.
The sections below detail how this model was implemented in practice: through researchers, experiments, and community participation over the course of the month.
