Hey guys, my name is Ben. I am one of the videographers who does the behind the scenes stuff for the YouTube of Lloyd. Just wanted to make this video to clear up a few things on the YouTube video editing side of things. I'm going to use Daniel Dallon's stuff as a reference I'm sure that you've probably seen him before. Just a FYI, I have only filmed the last like seven or eight videos. Before that, you'll see a lot of the footage didn't have much to work with. There was no intros. There was no establishing shots of Lloyd shaking hands with the client, walking through doors, setting up. There's no static shots which kind of help to make new scenes and establish new scenes. And there's also not a lot of talking. I want a lot more talking. So you'll see in the recent videos, which you'll do after these next couple edits, there's a lot more talking. I prompt Lloyd on you know why he does things why he's shooting certain things you know what's the purpose of this this and this and basically always prompting him and asking him like what we're doing today what we're shooting here we're shooting for basically to give the context to the viewer so that will basically help keep it authentic keep it a lot more raw we only really want like 10 to 20 percent of the edits and the music to be the video the rest of it we kind of just want it to be raw either Lloyd talking to a client or Lloyd speaking directly to the camera and lastly before i go into the youtube also the thing we are doing is match cuts so you probably see this um pole behind me a match cut what we've been doing is basically putting a camera putting it up on something like that let's say we were working here we basically have a static shot maybe playing for 10 minutes um and you could do like four cuts with maybe a time stamp in the corner in the little corner which says like 127 132 145 and then blah it kind of shows you how long he's there for without doing like a a messy like boring time lapse you can do like a match cut add music switch the scene on the beat and it helps like establish new scenes it helps establish like what's going on match cuts um so it's a static shot and then you probably know what it is i'm just making sure so now i'm going to share my screen with the youtube so i just want to basically show you what daniel does in these intros the type of music he uses I think on the last video the music was a bit naff it wasn't great um but it's nothing on you it's just the I guess I didn't give you enough instruction on the music um but on his videos a lot of the time there'll be the songs at the bottom so you know you can reference to them he also has his own playlist which I'll link in the description of this Vimeo video so yeah I just want you to watch the intro and understand that it's not like really really really fast-paced and yeah just watch I was sitting there demanding a God-given right, and my soul became satisfied, and I was writing what I was doing. At the same time, there was something deep down within me, moving me, that I could no longer be satisfied and go along with the evil system. I have to be malagestive. In spite of all of this, I have to keep loving it. Who denied his service. Who stared at me. Right, so what he did there is actually he blended two songs. So we had a very like chill monologue, I think it's called. No, sorry, monologue. Had a monologue, monologue, which is basically the talking and just a calm song. And the talking kind of tells a bit about the brand, you know, what it's speaking about if you listen. The music, obviously, the visuals kind of match it. They're quite slow paced. cinematic obviously he lives in hong kong he's traveling all over the map he's got a more aesthetic lifestyle than than lloyd um but what you can do is because obviously lloyd shoots one day and that's it and then another vlog will be another day they're all separate for this guy he does maybe two weeks worth of content in one vlog yeah she says in the caption two weeks in the life of daniel so he has a lot more to play with now what we can do is we can drag content from you know 10 15 20 different shoots little clips five second clip here five second clip here five second clip here we can put that in the intro to basically show what lloyd is about now obviously we're not using loads of clips we're using like you know maybe one from 10 different shoots or something um but cinematic pieces pieces which will stand out pieces which will tell the viewer what's going on whether it's you know Lloyd dapping up clients whether it's Lloyd working on his laptop whether it's you know Lloyd showing his client like a video that he's just made and the client's like really smiling because she's proud of like she's happy with it whether it's you know Lloyd trying to get a new client in a cafe which happened in Brighton you know there's so many factors maybe it's a cinematic piece where Lloyd's just setting up or he's at the car or he's flying a drone we need things which are going to tell people what the YouTube video is going to be about and what it's going to look like before it happens tell people what's going to happen in the intro for the whole youtube video okay so it the intro doesn't necessarily have to include specifically videos from that vlog and from that day it could be dragged from other vlogs same with the outro The outro should almost like summarize Lloyd. It's kind of like the intro, but have some sort of CTA. So for the outro, it might be a talking piece, and then it might be music leading up, fading in while the talking piece is in. and then it comes in here and then it's just like beat drops with different things and then maybe different sets of v-roll and then Lloyd's text, Lloyd Hunt or Hunt visuals, whatever he wants to do. So also for this, for the typography, I want you to pay attention closely. can't forget from sundown to sunset it's all in the air you hear it everywhere no matter what you do so here so he uses a yellow piece of text but what he does is he i believe he applies a gaussian blur which makes it stand out more because if he were to do no gorge and blur this text would be hard to read for example the window it might be too bright for yellow but daniel still wants to keep yellow as his brand image his brand color and for lloyd it's red now the the boldness of the text also matters it still needs to be like sort of that bold as you can see i don't know what font it is specifically maybe helvetica maybe europea grotesque um but yeah i think that's the intro out the way and then lastly like the different pieces is also we want a lot more raw pieces of talking to camera so um like a lot of this stuff is just very kind of like what business models they rolled out and like the one that i think is arguably one of the hardest and and maybe you'll actually see this in the newer videos which are out but the the ones that you'll be doing in the next like one two three they will be done by another videographer and he did it a bit different so he didn't actually ask questions to lloyd behind the camera which you know obviously lloyd is focusing on the shoot he's not thinking about the camera that is filming him so he doesn't actually you know he because he's not prompted because he's not asked questions he doesn't speak to the camera you know he's just in his zone speaking to the client and shooting the client you know he can't do two three things at once so um you'll see on the more recent shoots that we've done i've been asking lloyd you know questions like what are we doing now why are we doing it what have we just done who are we working with today what's the purpose of this piece of content what's the purpose of b-roll why are you shooting this questions like this which the goal of the content is to help the an ideal prospect a lead who is coming from instagram to go on youtube to then see what it's like working with Lloyd to see how he is on a shoot to see how he is with clients his personality the way he treats clients the way he shoots is it really serious and formal or is it jokey is it fun but he still gets the job done he still gets professional looking results which actually you know drive sales through ads um so the talking points are very key now this last point as well sometimes there's b-roll there's talking and then there's b-roll and then there's talking if it's just a short piece of b-roll between these talking pieces, what you can do is this. Watch this. So watch very closely and listen very closely as well. I'm excited and very happy with a new band. So that, right. There's no talking here. This is kind of just B-roll. It's Daniel pointing at his girlfriend. But he used a click sound effect. I don't know if he caught it. it was a very very small click if I just play it then hey we're gonna do something completely new but yeah it's uh it's super cool I'm excited to end very happy with a new back so a little click very subtle but it makes sure the the cut isn't untidy now also now obviously you don't have to do for every single cut um you know i i think we want to keep it authentic and raw to an extent um but the these clicks they're very subtle they don't necessarily make it not authentic but it like transitions the scene nicely and this shot goes into b-roll now this b-roll here in lloyd's case could be him setting up a camera him like walking from x location to y location you know him getting a coffee just a simple shot of like which explains like this kind of explains this shot here like i know they're just joking it's just it this the visual tells the story so in lloyd's case if he's having a coffee the the visual shows me he's having a break in between a shoot and a shoot in between a shot list and a different shot list so you don't necessarily need to do like music edit if it's just a small piece of b-roll you know we only do these like edits and these like cool cuts which are really cool you're very good at it but make sure we only do it when there's like a change of scene if we are going to a new location and maybe we've got a drive maybe lloyd does some work in a cafe he has a break he has a coffee we have b-roll of this we have b-roll of that you know we've got b-roll of him packing away and then repacking later we can maybe use music or if you know he's shooting in one spot for an hour and we just have a camera set up on on top which is just a a view a pov shot then you know do we really need to um like can we can we use music in that case have beats cut between the beats show you know that he's like directing his client and then can we just do maybe a click sound effect where it goes into Lloyd you know directing his client say this in this way or you know uh what could the hook be for this because this is all value which Lloyd is giving to his client on the shoot which shows his ideal lead his ideal prospect that he's qualified um yeah I think that's it I don't think we worry about timestamps to be fair you know the time in the corner I don't think it's necessarily necessary if you have any questions again the music is a big thing I will link the music down below Lloyd's like Lloyd's brand is like reflected by by the music that he uses like this guy's image is like, pardon me, very cool, young, successful but also authentic and humble and that music kind of imitates it. So yeah if you have any questions you can either ask Lloyd and Lloyd will probably pass it on to me or if Lloyd gives you my whatsapp or something you can you can reach out to me but from now on I will upload the raw youtube videos onto Framer in which I will make comments on what specifically you should do and by the way I don't want to limit any of your creativity you guys are editors I used to be an editor and I kind of still am so I understand you know you want to be creative and do your thing so um i hope this doesn't limit you you know that's not what i wanted to do but i just want to like kind of under make you understand help you understand the the style that i'm that i'm looking for to to help lloyd with this youtube so um yeah again if you have any questions don't hesitate to reach out goodbye
