An Alliance manhunt culminates at Tisiphone Tower, where Sun Jin Kaisara reaches Tanuki just as Longinus begins its orbital activation sequence—turning a chase into an attempted erasure event.

Overview

The Encounter at Tisiphone Tower begins as a city-scale pursuit and ends as a rooftop decision that permanently redefines the stakes of the setting. Systems Alliance forces have been hunting Tanuki through the megacity sprawl of Amber Krowe, sealing intersections, sweeping rooftops with air assets, and relying on volume and containment to eventually collapse the net.

By the time Kaisara arrives, the chase is already deep into its final phase. She and Forza Ninetails move fast and light, cutting into an operation that is already underway rather than initiating one. The urgency is not simply to find Tanuki—it is to reach Tanuki before the Alliance can decide what “resolution” looks like.

This event is depicted directly in Illumination VIII - Tisiphone.

What happens (Chapter 7.5 depiction)

The pursuit has a blunt inevitability to it at first: Tanuki is seen bounding rooftop-to-rooftop, breaking through office interiors, and refusing any path that turns him into a stationary target. The Alliance response is noisy—too many radios, too many units, overlapping calls—suggesting a force that can flood streets but struggles to coordinate cleanly when the target refuses to behave like a normal person.

That chase compresses into Tisiphone Tower. Kaisara breaches upward access with decisive force, pushing through doors and stairwells as the building’s internal sensors flicker to life. The tower becomes a vertical choke point: whoever controls the ascent controls the final minutes.

A radio call lands like a nail driven into the air: “Confirmed, he’s on the helipad. Tisiphone Tower.” Kaisara reacts immediately—not only accelerating, but taking control of comms by seizing a radio from Alliance personnel. The choice signals the real shift: this is no longer a shadow contest around the edges of state power. This is Kaisara stepping into the center of it.

Stairwell rupture (crossing the line)

The stairwell sequence is the moral fracture of the event.

Kaisara does not merely outpace the Alliance; she removes them. The depiction makes it clear that she is willing to kill her way to the roof to prevent interference, delaying tactics, or a capture that becomes execution. It reads as both necessity and declaration—an irreversible action taken with full awareness that there is no clean return to “plausible deniability” afterward.

Forza is present as close participant and witness, moving with her through the ascent as the situation breaks from pursuit into massacre.

Rooftop helipad: reunion under a countdown

On the helipad, Kaisara finds Tanuki at the end of the run, and the scene resolves into something far more intimate than the machinery around it. The reunion is immediate and unfinished—recognition, grief, and the ache of history arriving all at once without time for repair.

But the rooftop is not a sanctuary; it is the trap’s clean end. The withdrawal of forces and the sudden hollowing of the sky suggests that the Alliance’s plan was never “hold until capture.” It was “corner, confirm, and escalate.”

Longinus activation (and the official story)

As Longinus spools, the rooftop depiction provides a readable activation signature: blue motes across the sky, intensifying into streaks as a harmonic pressure rises toward a breaking point. In lived terms, it registers as a coming strike—an orbital weapon turning its attention downward.

Immediately afterward, Chapter 7.5 overlays the event with an in-scene propaganda frame: a broadcast attributes the incident to “catastrophic systems failure” following a “sophisticated cyber intrusion,” and reframes the visible beam as emergency range-finding / altitude determination, not a firing sequence. The juxtaposition matters: the page now has both the rooftop reality and the institutional narrative presented side-by-side.
