About mimo

What kind of app is mimo?

mimo is a video diary app where you record a 2-second video when you receive a notification every few hours. The 2-second clips from the day are automatically compiled into one vlog at the end of the day. You can use it for your own personal records or share daily moments with friends, a partner, or family.

Can I use it by myself?

Yes. A private room for your own use, called My Room, is available from the start, so you can use mimo as a video diary without inviting anyone. You can also create shared rooms later and invite friends.

How many people can use a room together?

There is no limit on the number of members in a room. A compiled video includes up to 15 people, starting with the people who recorded earlier that day. Clips beyond the first 15 people can still be viewed individually in the room.

Recording And Notifications

How often will I receive notifications?

You can choose every 3 hours, which is the default, every hour, or morning/noon/night. You can also turn notifications off and record whenever you like. You can change this from the room screen menu under "Notification settings."

I am not receiving notifications

Please check the following in order:

  1. Make sure in-app notifications are not set to "Off" from the room screen menu > Notification settings.
  2. Make sure notifications for mimo are allowed in your device settings, under Settings > Notifications > mimo.
  3. Make sure Focus mode or Do Not Disturb is not enabled on your device.

If you still do not receive notifications, please contact us using the contact information at the end of this page.

What happens if I miss a recording?

Nothing happens. There is no penalty, and your vlog for the day will be made from the clips you recorded. You can simply record again from the next notification.
