1. What is ARC?

ARC stands for Alien Resident Certificate. In Mandarin, it is called 居留證.

ARC is the residence card for international students who stay in Taiwan for more than 6 months. It works like your legal ID card in Taiwan, so you must keep it carefully and always check the expiration date.

2. Who Needs to Apply?

You need to apply for ARC if:

• You are an international student in Taiwan
• You entered Taiwan with a resident visa
• You will stay in Taiwan for more than 6 months
• You are a one-year exchange student or degree student
• You need a valid residence status in Taiwan

Students with a resident visa should apply for ARC within 30 days after arriving in Taiwan.

ARC application is completed online through the National Immigration Agency Student Online Application System.
