Fashion Revolution New Zealand is thrilled to announce the return of Fabric Forward: Upcycle Design Challenge, a nationwide competition inviting people across Aotearoa to creatively transform damaged, stained, worn-out, unsellable, unwearable or otherwise discarded garments into wearable new designs.
Overconsumption and textile waste are pressing issues in Aotearoa. Our op shops are overwhelmed with donations, many of which are low quality, damaged, stained, worn-out or unwearable. This challenge invites participants to rethink waste through creativity and craftsmanship. We encourage you to look at textile and clothing waste, unwanted materials, secondhand or discarded garments not as the end of a garment’s life, but the beginning of something new.
