Privacy Policy

Filmlit helps you capture photos and videos with film-inspired effects and review your captures. This policy explains what information the app accesses, how it is used, and where it is stored.

1. Information We Access

Filmlit does not require an account or ask for personal details such as your name, email address, or contact information to use the app.

Camera access is used for the live preview and to capture photos and videos. Microphone access is optional and is used to record video audio. Videos can be recorded without audio when microphone access is unavailable.

Photos add-only access is used to save photos, videos, and optional originals. When you open the viewer, the app requests Photos read access to find and display Filmlit captures. With limited access, only permitted items can be shown.

Captures may include metadata such as capture date and time, selected film, lens, shutter speed, flash, ISO, and focal length. Filmlit does not request location access or add GPS coordinates to new captures.

2. How Information Is Used

Camera images and microphone audio are used to preview, process, and save your captures. Photos access is used to display your captures and their details in the viewer.

Photo and video processing takes place on your device. Filmlit does not operate its own servers, use advertising, tracking, or analytics services, or upload your captures to the developer or other third parties.

Apple Photos may download items stored in iCloud when you view them. iCloud Photos synchronization and device backups follow your Apple account and iOS settings.

Capture metadata can remain embedded in saved photo files and may be included when those files are shared outside the app.

3. Storage and Retention

Developed photos and videos are saved to your Photos library. If Save Original Photo is enabled, an unprocessed RAW file or full-size JPEG is also saved when available. These items remain in Photos until you delete them.

Pending photos and videos are stored in the app’s local storage so saving can be retried after a failure or when the app reopens. Recovery files are excluded from device backups and are removed after a successful save, subject to local cleanup succeeding.

App preferences and some video capture metadata are stored locally. Reset Preferences resets app settings but does not delete saved captures, pending captures, or stored video metadata.

4. Deletion and Permission Changes

You can review or change Camera, Microphone, and Photos permissions in iOS Settings at any time. Revoking a permission limits the related feature but does not delete captures already saved to Photos or pending local files.

To delete saved captures, use the Photos app. Deletion, Recently Deleted recovery, and synchronization across devices follow Apple Photos and your account settings.

Deleting the app removes its local files and settings according to iOS behavior, including unsaved recovery files. It does not delete captures already saved to Photos. Offloading the app may retain local data.
