ℹ️ Scope note. The platform is live, and the design system, IA, and all seven screens below are complete. The Exhibition Plan's curatorial content and the Works catalogue are still being populated behind the scenes — what follows documents the finished design, not a fully-loaded archive.

Design Principles

Three principles governed every screen. They derive directly from the research synthesis and held from the initial wireframes through the post-evaluation iterations.

1. Visual before text. Art is felt before it is understood. Every page opens with image as the primary element. Interpretation is layered below, not placed beside.

2. Depth on request. Information is structured in tiers. A visitor can move through the entire platform reading only headlines and short paragraphs. The full scholarly layer — exhibition history, bibliography, provenance — is always present but never imposed.

3. Tone as trust. Every word signals the seriousness of the legacy it represents. Restrained, reflective, precise. Never promotional. The writing never tries to convince — it presents, and lets the work make the case.

Navigation Architecture

The platform operates in two modes accessible from a single navigation bar.

Discovery Mode — top navigation (always visible): OVERVIEW · JOURNEY · MOTIFS · EXHIBITION PLAN

Research / Archive Mode — toggled via the “ARCHIVE MODE” button (top right): BIOGRAPHY · WORKS · BIBLIOGRAPHY · EXHIBITIONS · TIMELINE

The toggle is available from any page at any time. Neither mode is the “real” site — both are complete, independent experiences sharing the same underlying content.
