About Hubble

Hubble builds AI-native infrastructure for medical record retrieval. Health systems, legal teams, life sciences companies, and insurers all need patient records out of EHRs and other systems of record. Today that process is manual, slow, and runs through fax machines and phone calls. We're automating it end to end: connecting directly into EHRs where we can, and building AI agents (voice, browser, and otherwise) that do the retrieval work where we can't.

We have raised $2.8M from funds YC, Basis Set, Madrona, Founders Co-Op, Zeno and strategic angels who are leaders at Grow Therapy, Elise AI, Scale AI & Perplexity. We are projecting to do seven figures of revenue in year one.

We're small, early, and moving fast. This is a founding engineering seat, high agency and high visibility work to fundamentally change how healthcare operates.

The role

We're looking for our first backend-leaning founding engineer. You'll own core systems: EHR connectors, our retrieval/orchestration pipeline, the agents that call and fax clinics and pull records, and the infrastructure all of it runs on. You'll work directly with the founders, ship to production constantly, and make real architectural calls.

This is a high-agency role. We're looking for someone who can take a rough problem and figure out the right approach, then build it.

What you'll do

• Design and build the backend systems that power patient record retrieval: EHR/API integrations, data pipelines, and the orchestration layer connecting our AI agents to real-world systems (fax, phone, portals)
• Make foundational architecture decisions (data model, infra, auth, compliance posture) that the company will run on for years
• Ship directly to production and work with real customers (health systems, law firms, insurers) with fast feedback loops
• Work close to compliance-sensitive infrastructure (PHI, HIPAA, TEFCA) and build with that rigor from day one
• Move across the stack when needed. This is a small team and the work doesn't respect job titles

What we're looking for

• Strong backend engineering fundamentals. You've built and shipped production systems, ideally including integrations with external/third-party APIs
• High agency: you've either founded something, been an early engineer somewhere, or otherwise have a track record of owning ambiguous problems without a lot of oversight
