FreshFromFarm is an innovative platform that allows farmers to sell their fresh produce directly to consumers, eliminating the middleman and ensuring that consumers receive the freshest, highest-quality products possible. Farmers can easily list their available products and prices with this app, while consumers can browse and purchase directly from the source.
Food waste is a major problem globally, with approximately 1.3 billion tons of food being wasted each year. This has significant environmental and economic implications, including the loss of valuable resources such as water and land, as well as contributing to greenhouse gas emissions. One of the main causes of food waste is the inefficiencies in the supply chain, particularly in the distribution and retailing of food products. By connecting farmers directly to consumers, we can reduce food waste by cutting out middlemen and streamlining the supply chain.
Our proposed app aims to solve this problem by connecting farmers directly to consumers through an online platform. The app will provide a marketplace where farmers can sell their produce directly to consumers, without going through intermediaries such as wholesalers or retailers. This will not only help reduce food waste but also provide farmers with a better price for their produce, as they will be able to sell it at a fair market value.
The app will also allow consumers to purchase fresh produce directly from farmers, enabling them to access locally grown, fresh produce at a lower cost than buying from supermarkets. Consumers will be able to browse different farms and select the products they want to purchase, with the option of having them delivered directly to their doorstep.
The app will also provide a rating system for farmers, based on factors such as quality of produce, reliability, and customer service. This will help build trust between farmers and consumers and ensure that only high-quality produce is sold through the platform.

At this stage, the most important thing to do was to listen to my users, understand what they need and gain real insights into their needs.
For this to be achieved, Secondary research was carried out using Research Papers, Articles, and Reports.
This was needed to fully discover the farmers' pain points, struggles, and challenges across the food supply chain. One of the leading causes of food waste is the inefficiencies in the food supply chain, which includes middlemen who often take a large percentage of the profit and contribute to food waste by discarding perfectly good products due to cosmetic imperfections or overstocking.
