Sometimes, you really just need a night in with your friends—eating, drinking, hanging out, yapping, and making something cute.
That is exactly why craft night is perfect.
I have to admit: I can do a lot of things, but planning an elaborate themed party is not one of them hahahaha. So I built a Craft Night Generator for the girly who wants to host a craft night with her friends but has no idea where to start. 😄
The mechanism is easy—easy like a slot machine, except it is free and you are not donating money to a casino lmaooooo.
You enter the number of people coming, then shuffle through:
See something you like? Click Keep.
Then continue shuffling the other categories until—tadaaaaa—you have your dream craft night.
Once your night is planned, the app gives you a shopping list with all the supplies you need.
Honestly, the most difficult part of this project was getting my friends to add their craft, food, drink, and theme ideas to the database!!
This is not my first rodeo building a web application, but it was my first time dealing with the backend. I chose Supabase because it seemed like the easiest free option, and I learned how to create database entries and connect them to the website.
Considering I'd never touched SQL before... I'd call that a win.
Of course, I can already think of a hundred ways to make this app better. But this project wasn't about building the perfect application—it was about turning an idea into something real and shipping it.
Sometimes done is better than perfect.
If you have ideas or want to improve it, feel free to fork the repository and build on it. I'd love to see what people come up with.
