Plans to compete with the market leaders · October 11, 2026

Summary

GoFi's next phase aims to beat the market leaders on price and on custody, then add the perks that keep card holders. These are plans, not live features. Each one is marked with its real status below.

Six moves:

  1. Apple Pay and Google Pay, through card issuers we are in talks with, including Rain.
  2. The cheapest physical card in crypto, with the cheapest rates.
  3. The lowest FX fee on spending in other currencies.
  4. A self-custodial wallet that spends directly, without giving up security.
  5. The cheapest transaction fees, on top-ups and on spending.
  6. Card holder perks, starting with airport lounge discounts and partner offers.

Together, they let GoFi undercut RedotPay and KAST on cost while matching MetaMask Card on self-custody, which no single card does today.

Where the leaders are today

No card leads on all of these at once. The cheapest cards are custodial, and the self-custodial card is limited to 48 countries.

Card Physical card Top-up / conversion FX fee Custody
RedotPay 100 USDT 0% on stablecoins 1.2% Custodial
KAST 2 cards free, then fee 0% on stablecoins 0.5–1.75% Custodial
MetaMask Card Metal $199/yr 0–0.5% 1% Self-custodial
Bybit Card €5–29.99 0.9% 0.5–2% Custodial
Ether.fi Cash $50–100 Not listed ~1% Self-custodial
Revolut Standard Delivery fee Free (no crypto) 0% to a cap, then 0.5% Custodial

Fees checked October 2026 from issuer pages and card reviews. Verify before quoting any of them externally.

The plan

Each move targets one place where a leader is strong, and aims to beat it on cost or custody. Aims marked "beat" are set against the lowest leader in the table above; exact numbers depend on issuer contracts.

Move What users get Market today GoFi aim Status
Apple Pay and Google Pay Tap to pay in shops with your phone Standard on the big cards Through Rain and other issuers In talks
Cheapest physical card A plastic card for shops and ATMs €5 (Bybit) to 100 USDT (RedotPay); Metal $199/yr Beat €5 Planned
Lowest FX fee Cheaper spending in other currencies 0.5% (KAST) to 2% Beat 0.5% Planned
Self-custodial wallet Funds stay in your wallet until you spend MetaMask Card, 48 countries; Ether.fi Self-custody in the regions the leaders skip Planned
Cheapest transaction fees Less lost on every top-up and payment 0% to 1.2% on top-ups 0% stablecoin top-ups, lowest spend fee Planned
Card holder perks Airport lounge discounts and partner offers Mostly locked behind premium tiers Perks for regular card holders Planned

The first three are what people compare when they pick a card. Self-custody is what sets GoFi apart, and perks are what keep people using it.
