About Ultralight

At Ultralight, our mission is to empower providers to help their patients live their healthiest lives today. We're building the future of personalized medicine by giving AI superpowers to clinicians. Think Claude Code or Cursor, but for doctors.

We are built a sophisticated AI platform that powers functional, integrative, and longevity medical practices. Our platform combines large language models, healthcare-specific agents, and human expertise to empower practitioners to deliver high-quality preventive care that learns, reasons, and adapts to each patient's unique needs.

We are powering a community of forward-thinking healthcare professionals committed to transforming the industry. Our journey is fueled by a passion for better healthcare—for providers and patients alike. Together with our partners, we're not just imagining the future of healthcare. We're creating it.

We've raised over $9M from leading health-tech and AI investors. Our customers include Wild Health, Extension Health, WNDR Health, and a growing roster of high-performing clinics. We're post-product-market-fit, generating real revenue, and on a clear path to Series A.

About this role

We're hiring a senior engineering leader to scale the team and the operating system of the engineering organization as we grow from where we are today — four engineers shipping fast — to where we need to be 15+ engineers shipping reliably to enterprise healthcare customers.

The right person owns the muscle our company needs most over the next 12-18 months: organizational rigor, technical vision and alignment, customer-grade reliability, and the ability to scale a team without losing what made us fast in the first place.

This person works closely with our founder-CEO to lead on deep technical direction and team execution.

We're titling this role Head of Engineering  intentionally. We want this hire to establish trust and credibility, so that they can grow into a CTO, with a clear path to managing engineering, product, and design.

What you'll own

Technical vision. What Ultralight is technically — the architecture, the AI systems, the data model, the bet on where the frontier is going and how we get there first. You hold the long view and translate it into what we build this quarter.

AI-native engineering. Not "we use AI in our product." The way our team builds, ships, reviews, and reasons is AI-native end to end. You own the engineering harness — how Claude and Cursor and what comes next compound into a small team that outbuilds teams ten times its size. This is craft, and we want someone who has opinions about it.

The platform clinicians can trust. Reliability, security, the compliance posture, the data architecture, the integration surface. The platform that enterprise clinic groups can run their clinical operations on without flinching.

The bar. You set what good looks like — in code, in design, in shipping cadence, in how engineers think. You hire peers and people who will become peers. The team grows because the bar pulls people in, not because we're trying to staff up.

The partnership with the CEO. You and I co-own the roadmap. I bring customer, market signal and product definition;  you bring what's buildable and where the technical leverage is. We make the company together.

What you've done before

You've been a technical leader at a startup that broke out — and engineering leader  at a company that found real product-market fit and scaled through it. You know what that period feels like and you want to do it again, from earlier.

You're the strongest technical mind in most rooms you walk into, and you wear it lightly. You'd rather ship something exceptional with six people than something fine with twenty. You think the AI moment in software is the most important shift in your career and you've been engineering against it personally, not just reading about it.
