Privacy Policy — Herdy Last updated: [15 Jul 2026]

Herdy does not require an account and does not collect any personally identifiable information.

Location. Herdy asks for your device's location to center the map on your position, confirm you're within the supported trail area before letting you drop a sighting pin, and show a reminder when you're near an active sighting. Your precise location is never sent to our servers or stored in our database.

Sighting pins. When you drop a pin, we store the approximate coordinates of the sighting, a rough time window, and an anonymous device identifier — a random ID generated on your device and stored securely in your device's Keychain. This ID is not linked to your name, email, Apple ID, or any other personal information, and cannot be used to identify you. It exists only so you can see which pins you personally submitted. Sighting pins automatically expire and are removed from the map after a few hours.

No tracking, no ads, no data sale. Herdy does not use analytics or advertising SDKs, does not track you across other apps or websites, and does not sell or share your data with third parties.

Data storage. Sighting data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore), used solely to power the app's live map.
