Humans are the same here as they are in our world, with very few exceptions. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes, with varying complexions. Skin tones range from chalky white to deep ebony. However, vibrant and colorful shades of hair and eyes are not uncommon in this world. These are influenced- or changed- by the manaform in the realms.
Humans are highly susceptible to magical influence, and continued exposure to wild or raw magic can cause morphological changes to their person. These changes are minor, often aesthetic, and do not offer any significant advantages. They are influenced by their birthplace, with those who live by the sea or large bodies of water often manifesting water elements and traits, for instance.
These traits are always manifested concurrently with their elements at birth. Fire elements may have red hair, charcoal-stained fingers, and a subtle or glaring glow to their eyes like burning embers. They do not, however, have radical physiological changes present-such as flaming hair, the ability to breathe or walk amongst fire, or skin that burns or ignites things upon touch. A fire element-aligned individual will also not show other elemental signs- like flowers in their hair, or watery blue eyes that shift and change like the oncoming tide.

If you’re unsure what an element might manifest like, please ask! Remember these should be small aesthetic indicators of elemental alignment, rather than notable or prevalent ones.
Human age spans range from 0-100 years old, though some have lived to be even older. Humans generally mature around 16-18 years of age, although societally they are not considered adults until about 20 years of age. Anything below the age of 50 is considered middle-aged, with anyone older considered elderly. In these trying times, however, most humans are lucky to reach old age, often dying in their 20's or 30's from disease, scarcity, or as prey to feral beasts.
Children under 12 are spoiled and treated as precious by the general community, as life is fragile, and until recent innovations, more than 35% of all children passed before reaching puberty.
