Effective date: 11 September 2026

This policy covers the HydroPress apps for iPhone, iPad and Mac, published by the HydroPress developer ("we", "us"). It explains, in plain terms, what the app does with your information.

The short version

HydroPress has no accounts and no sign in, and we never see your photos or videos. They are compressed on your device, by your device, and they never leave it because of anything HydroPress does.

The app does send anonymous usage statistics: which screens you open, which features you use, and how a compression run turned out. That is measurement of the app, not of you. It carries no account, no name, no email address, no advertising identifier and no content from your library, and it is not used to track you anywhere else.

In App Store terms, our privacy label is Data Not Linked to You, for Product Interaction and an anonymous device identifier.

Your photos and videos

HydroPress asks for access to your photo library so it can do the one job it exists for.

What it reads. With your permission, the app reads the photos and videos in your library to show you how much space each one takes and to display thumbnails in the grid. If you grant limited access, it only ever sees the items you picked.

What it does with them. Compression runs entirely on your device using Apple's own frameworks, including AVFoundation, VideoToolbox, ImageIO and Accelerate. No file, no thumbnail, and no part of a file is uploaded anywhere. The app does make network requests, for the usage statistics described below and for Apple's purchase checks, and none of them carry your content.

What it writes. Compressed copies are saved back to your photo library. Nothing else is written there.

Replacing originals. If you choose "Replace original", the original moves to the Recently Deleted album in Photos, where iOS and macOS hold it for 30 days before removing it. That deletion is performed by the system after you confirm it. HydroPress never deletes anything without that confirmation, and it cannot recover a file once Recently Deleted has been emptied.

Your library stays yours. We have no copy of it, no index of it, and no way to see it.

What is stored on your device

HydroPress keeps a small amount of information locally, in the app's own storage. It is not transmitted to us or to anyone else, and it is removed when you delete the app.

What Why
Your compression settings, such as quality tier and whether to keep the screen on So the app behaves the way you left it
The lifetime total of space you have freed The figure shown on the Pro card in Settings
Which items you have already compressed So the grid can badge them and not offer them twice
Whether you have seen the introduction So it is shown once
Your Pro status So paid features stay unlocked offline
An anonymous identifier for usage statistics So a sequence of events can be read as one session

You can clear the lifetime total at any time in Settings, under "Reset lifetime total". Deleting the app removes all of it.

Purchases

HydroPress Pro is sold through Apple's In App Purchase system, as a one time purchase or a monthly subscription.

Apple processes the payment. We never see your card details, your billing address, or your Apple Account. What the app receives from Apple is a signed transaction telling it that the purchase is valid, which it uses to unlock Pro features. That check runs against Apple's StoreKit, on your device.
